| Project Background
In the vast field of material application and engineering practice, the mechanical properties of materials play a decisive role in the quality, reliability, and safety of products. Whether it is the connection of structural components in construction engineering, the assembly of parts in mechanical manufacturing, or the fixation of components in electronic devices, the performance of materials under shear force is crucial. With the continuous progress of technologies in various industries, the requirements for the shear properties of materials are also increasing day by day.
For example, in the aerospace field, lightweight and high-strength materials need to have good shear properties to ensure the stability of structures in complex stress environments; in the automotive industry, the connection strength between components directly affects the safety and durability of vehicles.
| Project Overview
Used to test the shear strength of materials, the shear test actually measures the maximum shearing force when the test specimen is sheared and damaged. The sample is placed between the upper and lower shear heads and subjected to loads that are equal in magnitude, opposite in direction, and with action lines very close to each other on the upper and lower surfaces of the sample, causing the respective parts of the sample to move relative to each other along the shear plane parallel to the line of action of the force. If the sample has one shear plane, it is generally called a single-shear test; if it has two shear planes, it is called a double-shear test.
| Test Objective
One is to accurately measure the resistance performance of materials under shear force, gain an in-depth understanding of the ability of materials to resist shear failure, and provide important basis for material selection and design.
The other is to obtain the shear strength data of materials through shear tests, which helps engineers and researchers evaluate the reliability of materials in practical applications, predict the failure forms and load-bearing capacity of materials under shear loads, thereby optimizing product design and improving the quality and safety of products.
| Testing Standards
GB/T 6400, GB/T 6396, etc.
| Service Products / Fields
The shear performance test can be applied to any stage of production and can cover the entire process from the re-inspection of raw material quality to the inspection of product durability. The test can be carried out on a wide variety of materials and products, such as metal materials, polymer materials, composite materials, components, and structural parts.
