As a new generation of power semiconductor devices, SiC half-bridge modules play a vital role in the power electronics industry. With their high voltage withstand capability, low losses, and high efficiency, they significantly enhance the performance of power conversion systems. In fields such as new energy vehicles, photovoltaics, and energy storage, the application of SiC half-bridge modules effectively reduces energy consumption while improving system efficiency and reliability. A SiC half-bridge module exhibited failure after testing, characterized by an abnormally low gate resistance (10Ω/30Ω, compared to the normal infinite resistance) and a short circuit at the DS terminals. Failure analysis is now being conducted on 3 non-functional (NG) modules and 2 functional (OK) modules to identify the root cause of the failure.
